National design and construction award to Barwon Heads Company

Barwon Heads building company, Greig Design and Construction, operated by Johnny and Claire Greig, received a resounding vote of confidence last Friday night, when they received a major award in the ABODE House of the Year presentation, held at the annual gala dinner at Crown Casino in Melbourne.

The "Abode House of the Year" awards are designed to reward excellence in Australian residential design and construction, and to celebrate those who excel in their industry. Architects, building designers, interior designers, builders and developers are invited to submit their best work for consideration. The Abode Awards are Australia's independent accolades, honouring those who deserve the recognition without bias.

Commenting on the award, Johnny Greig said "In association with our development company, DG Developments, and our designer James Goodlet of Alterco Designs, we entered our four home development at 46 Sheepwash Rd, Barwon Heads into both the Best Multi-Residential Construction and the Best Multi-Residential Design sections of the annual ABODE awards".

"We were delighted that 46 Sheepwash Rd made the final three in both categories, and it was an even greater thrill when we were named as the runner up in the Best Multi-Residential Construction category". This recognizes the outstanding implementation of the design of a newly built or renovated multi-residential development. Eligible projects include apartments, units, duplexes, townhouses and dual occupancy. The entrant must demonstrate quality of workmanship and skill particularly in the construction of difficult elements or with unusual materials.

"At the presentation dinner, we sat with designers and builders from right across Australia, and the quality of work on display was fantastic. It was a real thrill to be in such esteemed company, and we felt that this award was a credit to all the people who worked so tirelessly to make this development such a great success" said Johnny Greig.

Development in Barwon Heads has become a hot subject in the past few years, as the once sleepy coastal village community struggles with its newly found popularity.
